.The doctrine of Mahdism is one of the most fundamental beliefs of Shia Islam that has always attracted the attention of researchers. Abdul Aziz Sashadina is one of the thinkers whose works, especially in the field of Mahdism, have been considered and cited by Western academic circles and have a special place among Western researchers. Despite his adherence to the Shia religion, some anti-Shiite views on Mahdism are evident in his works. This study, using an analytical-critical method, has examined and criticized Sashadina's views on the subject of Mahdism and evaluated his methodology. The findings show that Sashadina's historical approach in analyzing Mahdism issues has led to misconceptions such as the invention of the concept of two occultations by scholars, the claim of the involvement of influential individuals in the selection of the third deputy, and the influence of some Mahdist teachings on historical teachings.
